KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (September 2, 2011) - The Chicago White Sox have promoted right-handed pitcher Addison Reed to the Major League roster today, making him just the second player to go from the Kannapolis Intimidators, the White Sox Class A Affiliate, to the big leagues in one season. Reed appeared in four games with the Intimidators, posting a 1.13 ERA (1 ER/8.0 IP) with 11 strikeouts and one walk before being promoted to the Winston-Salem Dash on Apr. 21. In 15 games with the Dash, he went 2-0 with a 1.59 (5 ER/28.1 IP) with one save, tallying 39 strikeouts in the Carolina League before his next promotion.

Reed, who the White Sox drafted in the third round of the June 2010 draft out of San Diego State University, continued to dominate AA hitters with the Barons where he went 0-1 with a 0.87 ERA (2 ER/20.2 IP) with 33 strikeouts and six walks. While with AAA Charlotte, he saved two games in three chances, posting a 1.27 ERA (3 ER/21.1 IP) over 11 games with 28 strikeouts and three walks.

In 2009, former White Sox pitcher Daniel Hudson began the season in Kannapolis and worked his way into the Major Leagues with Chicago by the end of the season. Former Intimidators infielder Eduardo Escobar also earned his first promotion to the Major Leagues today. Escobar spent parts of 2008 and 2009 in Kannapolis.

The Intimidators are currently in the middle of their final series of the regular season against the Greensboro Grasshoppers with games through Monday, Sept. 5.
