"The half-pound bacon challenge coupled with the opportunity to finish the race on-field at Coca-Cola Park makes this truly one of the most unique 5K races in America,'" said IronPigs President & General Manager Kurt Landes. "Bacon, USA is the perfect setting for this one-of-a-kind event."

The Bacon 5K Challenge, presented by Toyota, is on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. and will start and end at Coca-Cola Park while, of course, including the most popular and unique eating element in the history of a 5K race - a midway point pit stop to complete the half-pound bacon challenge! After devouring the large serving of crispy, mouth-watering bacon, the hardest part of the race awaits as challengers run the final 2.5 kilometers back to Coca-Cola Park to finish the Bacon 5K Challenge. Immediately following the race, unwind with a bacon & eggs breakfast buffet that also includes juice and fresh fruit selections. Fans not participating in the race but wishing to partake in the post-race breakfast buffet may do so for $10 per person.

Following the club's successful "Smell the Change" rebrand in 2014 that included the introduction of a bacon strip on-field cap among other various bacon-related elements, the IronPigs have doubled-down on bacon, adding a "Bacon, USA" theme to the game day experience at Coca-Cola Park. The bacon cap is the top-selling lid in the Minors since its viral debut. To view the club's bacon-themed merchandise, click here.
