Iowa wins 11th out of 13 games

Sean Marshall pitched eight strong innings Ronny Cedeno had three hits and two runs scored to lead Iowa over host Oklahoma, 9-2, on Thursday night. Marshall (2-0) limited the RedHawks to one run on two hits and three walks. The 24-year-old southpaw struck out three and lowered his ERA to 1.82.

Cedeno doubled with one out in the sixth and, three batters later, Mike Kinkade hit an RBI single to snap a scoreless tie. Eric Patterson's two-run double highlighted a four-run seventh and Koyie Hill doubled in Kinkade and Micah Hoffpauir to cap a four-run ninth.

Marlon Byrd and Nate Gold each drove in a run for Oklahoma (19-20). Frank Catalanotto went 1-for-3 as he continued a rehab assignment. The outfielder went on the 15-day disabled list on May 1 with a right bicep strain.

Reliever Scott Shoemaker (0-1) allowed five runs -- four earned -- on seven hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings for the loss. Starter Josh Rupe lasted just two innings, giving up three hits and striking out two.
