Chick, Diamond Jaxx sink Stars

Travis Chick tossed five solid innings as West Tenn edged host Huntsville, 2-1, in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.

Chick (6-6) yielded an unearned run on two hits, fanned three and walked one. It was the second time this season he has held the Stars (34-27) to two hits over five frames.

Brodie Downs allowed three hits and struck out two over two innings for his second save.

Luis Oliveros doubled twice and drove in a run, while Jeff Frazier lifted a sacrifice fly and scored once for the Diamond Jaxx (27-34).

Huntsville starter Corey Thurman (4-8) gave up two unearned runs on six hits with six strikeouts over six frames. He fell to 1-5 in 15 home games, including five starts.

Hernan Iribarren doubled and scored on an error in the fourth to put the Stars on the board. --Michael Blinn/MLB.com
