Dave Walker crowned King of Baseball
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Dave Walker, a long-time Minor League Baseball Board of Trustees (BOT) member, was named the "2007 King of Baseball" Thursday night at the annual Baseball Winter Meetings Banquet. The "King of Baseball" is a long-standing tradition in which Minor League Baseball salutes a veteran from the professional baseball world for long-time dedication and service.
In addition to serving on the BOT, when he served for a time as its chairman, Walker was a baseball industry leader in Washington, D.C., when the game's antitrust laws were being challenged.
Walker also began a grassroots campaign for stadium funding in Burlington, Iowa, home of the Midwest League's Burlington Bees. He has donated much time and money towards the community-owned franchise for many years.
