Seven Mudcats to Play in Prestigious Arizona Fall League

Zebulon, N.C. - Seven Carolina Mudcats, current and former, were named to the Arizona Fall League from the Cleveland Indians organization on Wednesday.

Of the current roster, infielder Ronny Rodriguez and catcher Alex Monsalve were added to the Scottsdale Scorpions squad. Rodriguez has had a breakout season with the Mudcats, hitting .267. He leads the team with 19 home runs and 66 RBI. Rodriguez entered the 2012 season ranked the 13th best prospect in the Indians' organization by Baseball America. Monsalve was promoted from the Low-A Lake County Captains on July 6. The 2011 Midwest League All-Star has hit .237 with the Mudcats over 28 games, belting one home run while driving in five.

Five former Mudcats fill out the rest of the Indians AFL selections, including outfielder Tyler Holt and pitchers T.J. House, Trey Haley, Matt Packer and Shawn Armstrong. All five played parts of the 2012 season at Five County Stadium. The Arizona Fall League begins its 20th anniversary season on October 9th and culminates November 17th with its annual championship game at Scottsdale Stadium.
