Mariners hire former Frisco Broadcaster
Goldsmith, 29, was the "Voice of the RoughRiders" during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, providing radio and television play-by-play for the team in addition to coordinating Frisco's media relations department. The St. Louis native spent last year in a similar capacity for the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the Seattle Mariners' broadcast team," said Goldsmith to MLB.com's Greg Johns. "The idea of contributing to an organization with such a rich tradition on the radio is a tremendous honor and a standard I look forward to upholding. I'm eager to start working alongside Rick Rizzs and contributing to the Mariners both on and off the air."
Prior to joining the RoughRiders, Goldsmith was a broadcaster and studio host for the Portland Sea Dogs, Boston's Double-A affiliate. He also called games for Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League in 2008 and for the Gateway Grizzlies of the independent Frontier League in 2007. Goldsmith graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Ill. with a history degree and then attended the Broadcast Center in St. Louis, where he earned a certificate in Radio Broadcasting and Production.
