Injured Hampton to rehab at Rome
Hampton was placed on the disabled list on April 3 with a strained left pectoral muscle. He missed the entire 2006 and 2007 seasons after Tommy John surgery. Hampton also had surgery on a torn flexor tendon in his left elbow. The former Major Leaguer has not appeared in a Major League game since Aug. 19, 2005.
In April of this year, Hampton left a rehab start in Triple-A Richmond after throwing 71 pitches, citing discomfort in his left pectoral muscle. It was, however, an encouraging outing to that point.
Rome continues their road trip tonight in Savannah before returning home Monday to face Columbus. The Salute to America Night and post game fireworks show will take place Tuesday July 1 with first pitch at 7pm.
