Norfolk edged in extras Monday night
Taylor Pastornicky singled home Sean Kazmar with two outs in the 11th inning to lift the Gwinnett Braves past the Tides 5-4 Monday night from Coolray Field.
Kazmar led off the 11th inning with a single to center off Norfolk reliever Manny Delcarmen (1-1). After a sacrifice bunt moved Kazmar to second, a ground out advanced Kazmar to third. Jose Constanza then worked a walk off Delcarmen, and Pastornicky followed with a single to left to plate Kazmar and give the Braves the walkoff win.
The loss snapped Norfolk's three-game winning streak and dropped the Tides record to 6-6.
Danny Valencia homered to lead the Tides offense, while Russ Canzler added two hits and two runs batted in.
The two clubs continue their four-game series Tuesday night from Coolray Field, with first pitch set for 6:05.
