Three Mets Players Named to FSL All-Star Team
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA. - The Florida State League announced on Tuesday the league selections for the 2013 North and South All-Star Teams. Representing the St. Lucie Mets will be pitcher Noah Syndergaard, second baseman T.J. Rivera, and outfielder Dustin Lawley.
The Florida State League All-Star Game will be played at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida on Saturday, June 15 at 7:05 p.m.
Noah Syndergaard has been selected to his second All-Star team as a professional. Syndergaard, who has made 11 starts, is 2-3 with a 2.81 ERA and has struck out 59 in 57 2/3 innings. Syndergaard, 20, was selected by the Blue Jays in the first round in the 2010 draft out of Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas. He was acquired by the Mets in the off-season in a trade involving Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey.
T.J. Rivera has been selected as an All-Star for the second straight year. Rivera was named to the South Atlantic League All-Star Game last season with the Savannah Sand Gnats. In 51 games, the second baseman is hitting .297 with 25 RBIs, 63 hits, and 13 doubles. Rivera, 24, batted a combined .320 with nine home runs and 66 RBIs in 2012 between Savannah and St. Lucie.
Outfielder Dustin Lawley will also represent the Mets for the South-All Stars. Lawley, 24, has hit .242 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs as well as 51 hits and 16 doubles in 54 games. Lawley ranks third in the Florida State League in home runs, fourth in RBIs, second in extra-base hits, and fifth in total bases. Lawley will make his first All-Star appearance as a professional.
