Plawecki Lifts Mets Past Cardinals 7-4
Kevin Plawecki had a tiebreaking two-run double and Cam Maron followed with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth as the Mets defeated the Cardinals 7-4 on Wednesday at Tradition Field.
Tim Byrdak then earned the save with a 1-2-3 ninth with one strikeout.
Dustin Lawley produced his 16th homer -- a two-run shot in the sixth to give the Mets a 4-3 lead.
Domingo Tapia allowed three runs on six hits and three walks in five innings.
Chasen Bradford earned the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Carlos Vazquez pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed one run in relief.
The Mets will host the Palm Beach Cardinals on Thursday at Tradition Field at 6:30 p.m. Angel Cuan is the scheduled stater for the Mets.
