Edgar Arredondo firma con Rangers de Texas
Cancún, Q. Roo (www.tigresqr.com) 4 de julio.- Coincidentemente con la fecha del día de la Independencia en los Estados Unidos, el prospecto de los Tigres de Quintana Roo, Edgar Arredondo Guzmán, de tan solo 16 años, fue firmado para pertenecer a partir de este 4 de julio, a la organización ligamayorista de los Rangers de Texas, en una fecha que quedará en la historia de los felinos desde su arribo al caribe mexicano.
En rueda de prensa celebrada en el estadio Beto Ávila de Cancún, el lanzador derecho originario de Navolato, Sinaloa; estuvo en la mesa de honor acompañado por el presidente ejecutivo de los Tigres de Quintana Roo, Cuauhtémoc Rodríguez Meza, así como el encargado de scouteo internacional de los Rangers, A. J. Preller; además de los también socuts de los texanos Billy McLaughlin y Manuel Vélez.
Al mismo tiempo se aprovechó esta reunión con los medios de comunicación para que Edgar Arredondo estampara su firma en el contrato que lo liga ya a los Rangers de Texas, así como recibir de manos de A. J. Preller la gorra, y el jersey de su nueva organización.
"Estoy muy emocionado, y a la vez nervioso, pero muy agradecido por todo el apoyo que he recibido primeramente de parte de mi familia, que hoy están aquí conmigo acompañándome en este momento tan trascendental en mi vida.
"Y claro a los Tigres de Quintana Roo, por haber confiado en mí para hacerme parte de su organización, al tiempo de darme la oportunidad de haber sentido la adrenalina de lanzar en un juego oficial de temporada, ahora tengo que trabajar muy fuerte para no defraudar la confianza de todos ellos", expresó Edgar Arredondo.
Edgar Arredondo debutó a los 15 años 11 meses y dos días, siendo el pelotero más joven en hacerlo en la historia de Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, cuando el pasado 18 de abril, abrió el juego con los Tigres ante los Guerreros de Oaxaca, lanzando dos entradas, con solamente un hit y una base por bolas; tiene como principales pitcheos una recta que en promedio fluctúa entre las 88 y 90 millas, además de curva, cambio; y en este momento trabaja para perfeccionar su slider.
"Estaré aquí en Cancún hasta el próximo sábado, antes de viajar a Arlington, donde me realizaran los exámenes médicos en la organización, para posteriormente ir a su academia en la República Dominicana donde estaré por espacio de un mes, antes de regresar a los Estados Unidos", confirmó Edgar Arredondo.
CUENTA CON EL TALENTO QUE BUSCAMOS: A. J. PRELLER
El encargado de Scouteo Internacional de los Rangers de Texas, A. J. Preller hizo el viaje especialmente a Cancún para estar en este momento de mucha importancia para la organización que le representa, ya que hoy por hoy Edgar Arredondo es el talento mexicano de 16 años, con mayor proyección con miras a llegar a Ligas Mayores, y dentro de los cinco mejores de cualquier parte del mundo.
"Edgar Arredondo es un muchacho que hemos venido siguiendo desde hace varios años, muy de cerca con él han estado tanto Manuel Vélez como Billy McLaughlin, quienes lo vinieron a ver a los dos Show Case aquí en Cancún, y desde ahí los reportes fueron muy satisfactorios a lo que buscamos nosotros en nuestra organización.
"Es un lanzador derecho, que tiene buena mecánica, brazo fuerte, zona de strike definida, buen cambio, además de que como persona es competidor, tiene aspiraciones, y es un hombre serio", señaló Preller.
Al mismo tiempo el directivo de los texanos, señaló que para ir al béisbol de los Estados Unidos se tiene que tener talento, y Edgar lo tiene; el plan es enviarlo en primera instancia a la República Dominicana, para que a finales de agosto, llegue con los Rangers, donde lo asignaremos e la Liga Instruccional.
LOS RANGERS SON UNA GRAN ELECCIÓN: "CHITO" RODRÍGUEZ
Por su parte Don Cuauhtémoc Rodríguez Meza, presidente ejecutivo de los Tigres de Quintana Roo, señaló que este es un día histórico para la organización de bengala, ya que el talento de Edgar Arredondo supera la media de los jóvenes a esa edad en nuestro país, al tiempo de comentar que el hecho de haber negociado con los Rangers de Texas, ha sido una gran elección.
"Muchos equipos de Ligas Mayores, estuvieron muy interesados en hacerse de los derecho de Arredondo, ustedes fueron testigos de la cantidad de scouts que vinieron a verlo en el Show Case, luego vinieron los supervisores, y ahora llega el jefe de todos ellos como lo es A. J. Preller, y se logra la firma.
A Edgar Arredondo Guzmán, lo acompañaron en esta fecha tan importante para él, sus padres Crisanto Arredondo Trapero, Elionora Guzmán de Arredondo; y su hermano mayor Crisanto Jr.
Actualmente en la organización texana, jugando en sus sistemas sucursales hay varios peloteros mexicanos, entre los que destaca José Félix Fong quien llego a debutar como catcher de los Tigres de Quintana Roo en el 2007, así como Cristian Vilanueva que hasta el año pasado estuvo con los texanos. Con los Tigres actualmente juegan Jorge Cantú, Ismael Valdéz y el dominicano Fabio Castro, quienes vistieron los colores de los texanos.
Edgar Arredondo tendrá la oportunidad de conocer a Joakim Soria, quien actualmente está en su proceso de rehabilitación en la sucursal AA de los Rangers.
