Fiorentino, Patton lead Tides to 4-2 win
Fiorentino singled and scored in the second inning, connected on a solo homer in the fourth and doubled and scored in the sixth to help Norfolk snap a season-high five-game losing skid. He also reached on a fielders choice and scored in the eighth inning, becoming the first Tides player to score four runs in a game this season.
Fiorentino's offense helped make a winner of Troy Patton (1-1), who picked up his first victory in a Norfolk uniform in his Harbor Park debut. Patton worked around seven hits in six innings of work, walking one and striking out one. The 23-year-old southpaw threw 50 of his 79 pitches for strikes.
Chris Ray relieved Patton and allowed a run in an inning of relief before Bob McCrory and Jim Miller each followed with a scoreless inning of work. Miller recorded the final three outs to register his league-leading 15th save of the season.
Melvin Dorta had three hits and an RBI to help pace Norfolk's 12-hit attack.
The Tides will wrap up their four-game set with the IronPigs on Monday night from Harbor Park, as Jake Arrieta (0-2, 5.06) will make his home debut for the Tides against right-hander Kyle Kendrick (4-4, 3.70). First pitch is slated for 7:15.
