Missions Lose in Walk-Off Fashion Again
MIDLAND-The Missions suffered their second straight crippling defeat as the Rockhounds scored four times in the ninth inning to walk off with a win Thursday night in front of 4,775 at Citibank Ballpark.
Clay Zavada a pair of hits and walk but a catchers interference call on Rocky Gale helped to fuel the flames.
Matt Lollis replaced Zavada and promptly served up a game-ending two-run double to Chad Oberacker.
San Antonio had rallied for four runs in the top of the inning to erase a 6-5 deficit.
Midland won the previous night in 13 innings.
The loss spoiled a rare offensive barrage for a Missions club that entered play tied for the 6th fewest runs this month among all full-season minor league teams.
With Corpus Christi winning its game, the Missions and Hooks are tied for first in the South Division with four games left.
