Danville Braves Announce 2014 Schedule
DANVILLE, VA - The Danville Braves have released their 2014 schedule, their 22nd season in the Advance Rookie Appalachian League. They will play a split schedule, with 34 games at home (American Legion Post 325 Field) and 34 games on the road. The Braves will host a new opponent in 2014, as the Bristol franchise has changed affiliation from the Chicago White Sox to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Braves will open the season on the road on June 19th with a three game series at the Kingsport Mets. They will then travel to the Johnson City Cardinals from June 22-24 to finish up their first week of the season.
The D-Braves will return to Danville for their home opener on Wednesday, June 25th versus the Greeneville Astros. After the three game series with the Astros the Braves will welcome the Bluefield Blue Jays to ALP 325 Field for a three game series starting June 28th. The Braves host the Burlington Royals for one game on July 1st before having a day off on July 2nd. Our annual Independence Fireworks Show will follow the home game versus Burlington on July 3rd.
The Braves will continue their season throughout July and August before finishing up their home season on August 23rd against the Johnson City Cardinals. Following a six game road trip against the Princeton Rays and Bristol Pirates, the Appalachian League Playoffs will begin on August 30th.
The Braves will have several long home stands in 2014. From July 28 through August 5th the Braves will play nine straight days at home, and from August 15th through August 23rd they will play nine home games in eleven days. The team also will play their local common opponent the Burlington Royals eleven times in 2014 (seven home, four away).
