Stadium Facts
Enjoy Major League action at little league prices.
Since the team's inception in 1993, the Ottawa Lynx Baseball Club has already set two league attendance records and won the International League Championship. In its inaugural year, 1993, the club broke the 47 year old league attendance record, with 693,000 fans through our gates. The facility has quickly become a focal point for the Ottawa-Carleton sports community. In fact, we have quickly become one of the top choices in sports entertainment in Eastern Ontario, drawing on a population of over 1.5 million in the immediate region.
The facility, which houses the franchise, is a state of the art building which creates an old time ballpark experience coupled with all the modern facilities and services. The stadium boasts an award-winning natural grass and clay field, comfortable seats, and excellent sightlines. The open air stands comfortably seat 10,332, while 185 fans can enjoy the game from the comfort of the stadium restaurant located on the upper level of the stadium. The 32 corporate boxes offer an additional 400 sheltered seats. The facility 's primary use is for baseball, but its capacity for multi-recreational use is virtually unlimited.
Layout: Lynx Stadium was built in nine months with a price tag of $17 million (CDN). This centrally located multi-purpose facility is within minutes of the downtown core and is directly beside the city's largest highway (417).
The first game played in this 10,332 seat stadium too place on April 17, 1993 when the visiting Charlotte Knights defeated the hometown Lynx, 3-2. This natural grass surface has been home to the Ottawa Lynx for the past 15 years. The field has been selected as an award-winning playing surface, having been named the 1999 winner of the "Beam Clay Baseball Diamond of the Year" award, after placing second two years running. The field also took top International League honours in 1994 and 1995.
There are 32 private suites located in the stadium's upper level. The private suites contain either 8 or 12 seats and hold up to 12 or 16 people accordingly. Each box is decorated by the suite owner.
Lynx Stadium also has some of the largest clubhouses in minor league baseball. The home clubhouse has a separate doctor's office, training (weight room) and eating area. The manager and pitching coach each have separate offices, equipped with showers.
The visiting clubhouse is a bit smaller, but contains all the modern amenities required by a Triple-A team. Lynx Stadium also has four other locker/changing areas which are used by amateur teams during tournaments.
One of the larger rooms in the basement area of the stadium is a family lounge. This very popular area is frequented throughout the game by the players' wives and children.
The basement area also has a large storage facility which is used by the stadium concessionaire. Food is stored or prepared by the catering company which serves the corporate suites.
One of the more popular areas before or during the game is our Terrace Area located down the third base line. Many fans are seen retrieving foul balls throughout the game. Pre-game BBQ's are extremely popular for groups.
Another busy area on game days is the stadium restaurant located on the upper level. This restaurant can seat up to 185 people.
Lynx Stadium also has a very spacious Press Box. Also located on the upper level, there is ample seating for 20 print media. There are also four separate radio/TV rooms which insure privacy for those mediums. The Press Box also contains a large room which is home to our scoreboard operations and P.A. announcer.
The employees of the Ottawa Lynx are fortunate enough to work out of the spacious offices of Lynx Stadium. Located on the first and second floors, employees have eleven offices, a large board room, kitchen facility, and spacious ticket office.
Fans of the Lynx can purchase a variety of items at our team store. It carries merchandise from many minor-league teams along with the local favourite Lynx apparel.
Our spacious concourse provides ample space for our various concessions. You can purchase a cold beer, pop, hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn, pretzels and other traditional ball park fare just about anywhere in the stadium. The Terrace Area is also home to our open-flame BBQ area. Jumbo hot dogs, hamburgers, and other BBQ items are for sale throughout the game.
Future big-leaguers try out our speed pitch machine located in the BBQ terrace. Fans who want to test their speed and accuracy can do so before and during the game.
Tours of Lynx Stadium are very popular with school children. This tour lasts about one hour and the group is treated to a visit to the playing field, dugouts, home clubhouse, Press Box and concourse. Those groups interested in taking a tour can do so by setting up an appointment with our P.R. or Sales Department.

Demographics: Baseball fans come from a large range of demographic categories, with the majority being families made up of adults between the ages of 36 and 60 with children. Cumulatively, these groups comprise 67% of our fan base. The other major group comprises males between 22 to 35. In terms of education and income, over 46% of fans have completed post secondary education and are earning in the range of $41 000 to $80 000 per year (family income). The fan base is in prime earning and spending y ears, with sufficient disposable income to attend entertainment and sporting events regularly.
