Blue Jays option Goins to Bisons
The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have optioned INF RYAN GOINS to the Buffalo Bisons.
Goins, 26, played 111 games for the Bisons last season and hit .257 (97-377) with 22 doubles, six home runs and 46 RBI. He ranked 2nd on the club in doubles, 5th in RBI and 6th in hits. Goins had 23 multi-hit performances for the Herd and posted an inside-the-park home run in a game on May 29 at Durham. Defensively, he made just nine errors in 844.2 innings at shortstop for a .980 fielding percentage that led all International League players at that position.
Goins was promoted from the Bisons to Toronto on August 22 of last year and hit .252 (30-119) with five doubles, two home runs and eight RBI in 34 games with the Blue Jays.
This season, Goins hit .150 (9-60) with a home run and an RBI in 24 games with Toronto.
