Marlins first baseman suspended

Kam, 17, tested positive for two banned substances in GCL
January 29, 2010
The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that two players have been suspended following violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Florida Marlins Minor League first baseman Adam Kam has received a 50-game suspension after testing positive for the performance-enhancing substances boldenone and boldione.

The suspension of Kam, a 17-year-old from Parkland, Fla., will be effective at the start of next season. He had only one at-bat, appearing in two games for the Marlins' Gulf Coast League affiliate in 2009.

Kam was selected by the Marlins in the 50th round of 2009 Draft out of Stoneman Douglas High School.

Free agent player Duanel Jones also received a 50-game suspension for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. His suspension will be effective immediately upon signing with a Major League organization.
