Twins sign indy league All-Star Jimerson
The 30-year-old Jimerson was an Atlantic League All-Star in 2009, leading the league with a .335 batting average. Jimerson hit 21 home runs, drove in 62 runs and stole 38 bases in 103 games for the Newark Bears.
Jimerson was the Most Valuable Player in the 2001 College World Series for Miami's national championship squad, and was drafted by Houston in the fifth round of the 2001 draft.
On September 4, 2006, Jimerson made his big league debut for Houston. Pinch-hitting for pitcher Roger Clemens against Philadelphia, Jimerson hit a home run in his first at-bat. He is 4-for-9 (.444) with two homers in 31 big league games.
Jimerson opened the 2008 season in the big leagues with Seattle, but was released from the Mariners' Triple-A Tacoma club in July.
