Diablos Rojos conquista su título 16
México, D.F. (diablos.com.mx | Vania Ravelo), 11 de septiembre.- Diablos Rojos del México es Campeón 2014 de la Liga Mexicana de Beisbol. Con jonrón de Juan Carlos 'Haper' Gamboa en extra innings, la novena escarlata venció a Pericos de Puebla por pizarra de 9-8 en el Juego 4 de la Serie del Rey y se agenció la Copa Zaachila tras barrer al club poblano.
Seis años después de su título más reciente, la novena escarlata firmó un dramático y cerrado triunfo sobre los poblanos y se ciñe la decimosexta corona en su historia, tras una campaña de renovación por demás redonda. Así, con el Campeonato, Diablos Rojos se despide del Foro Sol, la que fue su casa durante los últimos 14 años.
Juan Carlos 'Haper' Gamboa se convirtió en el héroe de la velada, luego de un dramático noveno inning que inició con pizarra 6-5 favorable para los de casa y en el que los visitantes fabricaron tres carreras y remontaron el pizarrón con producción de Mario Iván Santana y jonrón de dos carreras de Jonathan del Campo.
En el fondo de esa entrada, los escarlata fraguaron el ataque con el sello de la casa, sin bajar los brazos, en el tenor de lucha que distinguió a la novena durante la campaña. Sergio Omar Gastélum se embasó con sencillo al izquierdo y John Lindsey llegó a la inicial tras recibir un pelotazo, Alejandro Ortiz entró como corredor emergente por Lindsey; Emmanuel Ávila puso en juego la pelota y un error de fildeo del primera base Julio Pérez permitió que se llenara la casa. Tomó turno Gabriel Gutiérrez, despachó sencillo por el rumbo de tercera y remolcó a Gastélum con la séptima carrera roja. Alex Ortiz se lastimó en el viaje a la antesala y Jesús Fabela entró como emergente; Iván Terrazas elevó de sacrificio, envió a home a Fabela, empató el score y mandó el juego a extra innings.
El cerrador Manny Acosta, quien permitió el rally de tres en la novena, contuvo a la ofensiva de Pericos en la parte alta de la décima. A la postre, el panameño firmó la victoria roja.
En la apertura de la parte baja de la décima vino a la caja de bateo 'Haper' Gamboa. El shortstop escarlata descifró el envío de Pedro Rodríguez, atizó un cuadrangular por el rumbo del jardín derecho y selló la victoria para Diablos Rojos, el gallardete número 16 en la historia del club.
Diablos buscó temprano la victoria con un rally de cuatro en la primera entrada. Carlos Figueroa dio doble de terreno, Gastélum puso la pelota en juego y Figueroa se desplazó a la antesala; con Douglas Clark en la caja de bateo, un wild pitch de Mauricio Lara permitió a Figueroa timbrar la primera del racimo.
Clark y John Lindsey recibieron pasaportes consecutivos; enseguida, Emmanuel Ávila conectó sencillo y Clark timbró la segunda; después, con Gabriel Gutiérrez al bat, un passed ball de Mario Iván Santana permitió a Ávila llegar a la intermedia, el catcher escarlata dio después un sencillo con el que las dos últimas anotaciones del rally entraron en los spikes de Lindsey y Ávila y el primer rollo concluyó con ventaja de cuatro anotaciones para los de casa.
Diablos agregó la quinta en el fondo de la tercera con un jonrón solitario de Lindsey; así, el Campeón de Jonrones de la LMB atizó su primer palo de vuelta entera en la Serie Final.
Pericos atacó con un racimo de tres carreras en la quinta. Fernando Alejos y Valentín Gámez sorprendieron a Arturo López con dos jonrones, espalda con espalda, el primero de dos carreras y el score se puso 5-3, aún favorable para los locales. En la sexta, los poblanos igualaron el pizarrón; el baluarte ofensivo de Pericos, Sandy Madera, atizó jonrón por el central y se llevó por delante a Luis Mauricio Suárez.
Con empate a cinco carreras en la parte baja de la séptima, Sergio Omar Gastélum encontró un envío del relevista Héctor Galván, despachó la pelota por el jardín izquierdo y anotó la sexta carrera, la de la remontada roja en ese inning.
El derrotado Pedro Rodríguez lanzó una entrada en la que toleró tres hits y el mismo número de carreras -dos limpias-, a cambio de un ponche.
