Birmingham, Ala. - The Generals once again showed off the power stroke, downing Birmingham in the series finale at Regions Field Sunday afternoon. Jackson mashed four home runs as a team as part of an 11-hit effort, while Ivan Pineyro improved to 8-0 on the season on the mound.
Jackson (15-15, 52-48) finished the series in Birmingham strong after getting shut out in the first two games at Regions Field. The Generals won the final three, scoring 17 runs on 23 hits combined over the weekend. Jackson wraps up the season series against the Barons having won 13 of 20. The Generals won all four series versus Birmingham (12-17, 38-61).

It did not take long for the Generals to get on the board. With two outs and nobody on in the first, Kevin Cron launched an opposite-field home run into Birmingham's bullpen. The long ball was his 19th of the year, and his seventh against the Barons. He drove in two runs on the day, bringing his total to 68 on the season.
The Generals went deep twice more against Birmingham's Tanner Banks (0-5, 7.45) to extend the lead to six. Travis Denker mashed a two-run shot to straightaway centerfield in the third, making it 3-0. It was the first long ball for Denker since his first game of the season April 28. Oscar Hernández added a solo shot in the fifth inning. Jackson added two more in the fifth.
Ivan Pineyro (8-0, 3.06) did not allow a run until the seventh inning in another stellar start. He needed just 73 pitches to get through six scoreless frames. Birmingham singled three times in the seventh, scoring on a Trey Michalczewski single to make it 6-1.
Kelly Dugan left no doubt in the top of the eight. After a one-out single by Angel Franco, Dugan hit a no-doubter over the fence in right field to put Jackson on top 8-1. Dugan homered in the final two games of the series for Jackson, ending a stretch without one going back to May 19.
After a day off Monday, the Generals return home Tuesday for their only series in West Tennessee versus Mobile. Taylor Clarke (8-6, 2.71) takes the ball in the opener versus right-hander Jaime Barria (1-2, 2.79). First pitch from The Ballpark at Jackson is slated for 6:05 pm CT, and fans can tune in on Willie 94 FM & 1390 AM starting with the Pregame Show at 5:50 pm CT!
