JACKSON, TN -- Mississippi (26-27) took an early lead with three runs in each of the first two innings, but Jackson (28-25) put up two in the bottom of the first and three more in the third to make it a one run game. It stayed that way until the sixth when the Generals tied the game before later walking off with a 7-6 victory in the bottom of the ninth.
Braves starter Kolby Allard did not factor in the decision, going five and two-thirds innings and giving up six runs (all earned) on nine hits. He walked three and struck out three. Chad Sobotka and Rex Brothers combined to keep the score tied until the ninth. Michael Mader came on in the ninth and took the loss, surrendering the bunt single along with two walks and one strikeout.
Jared James got things started for the Braves with a lead-off triple in the first. He scored on a fielding error on a ball hit by Ronald Acuña Jr.. The run became earned when Joey Meneses singled one batter later, moving Acuna to second. Levi Hyams then doubled to right, scoring Acuna and moving Meneses to third. Kade Scivicque later grounded out to short, allowing Meneses to score and giving the Braves a 3-0 lead.
With two outs in the bottom of the inning, the Generals recorded singles by Kevin Cron and Stewart Ijames. They both scored on a triple by Dawel Lugo, thus making it a one-run game.
Connor Lien doubled to start the second and moved to third on the sacrifice bunt from Allard. Allard was safe at first on the play. Lien then scored on a ground out by James and Allard took third on an error by the Generals. Acuna then hit a two-run homer to extend the Braves lead to 6-2.
