Giants Power To Series Win Over Quakes

Quinn's (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI) three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth gave the Giants the lead for good on Wednesday. Miller (3-for-4, HR, RBI, 2 SB) knocked out three hits, scored three times and stole two bases while
San Jose never trailed in the contest scoring twice in the bottom of the third to take an early 2-0 lead. Fargas started the frame with a single before stealing second base. Miller followed with another single to advance Fargas to third. After Miller stole second, Franco laced a double into the left center field gap easily scoring both runners to make it 2-0.
Meanwhile, Myers began his start with four scoreless innings retiring 12 out of the first 15 Quakes batters that came to the plate. Rancho Cucamonga would breakthrough though with a pair of solo home runs off Myers in the top of the fifth to tie the game.
The Giants, however, had an answer in the bottom of the fifth. A one-out single from Miller followed by another Franco double put runners on second and third. Quinn was up next and he belted a 3-2 pitch from Rancho Cucamonga starter

The Giants then belted two more homers in the bottom of the seventh to take control of the game. With one out, Miller hit a line drive solo home run down the left field line to make it 6-4. Quinn then singled with two outs before Dobson drilled a two-run home run over the fence in straightaway center for an 8-4 advantage.
Anderson (7-6) suffered the loss after yielding five runs (all earned) on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out a season-high eight.

* The two teams combined to hit seven home runs.
* San Jose has now hit 101 home runs this season - tops among all North Division clubs and third-most in the California League.
* The Giants won their first series since they took three of four games July 13-16 vs. Visalia.
* Wednesday was the 18th and final meeting of the season between San Jose and Rancho Cucamonga. With the victory, the Giants won their first series against the Quakes this year. San Jose finished with a 5-13 record versus Rancho Cucamonga.
* Quinn achieved a new career-high with his 11th home run. He hit 10 homers last season in San Jose.
* The Giants out-hit the Quakes 13-9.
* Rancho Cucamonga hit 11 home runs in the series. All 11 homers were solo shots. The Quakes lead the league with 162 home runs this season.
* Fargas stole his league-leading 36th and 37th bases of the year.
* Franco extended his hitting streak to 11 games. He's now tied for the league lead with 35 doubles.
