North Little Rock, AR—Isiah Gilliam hit a tie-breaking eighth inning grand slam lifting the Arkansas Travelers to an 8-4 win over the Midland RockHounds in Tuesday’s series opener at Dickey-Stephens Park. The RockHounds had rallied to tie in the top of the eighth after trailing by as many as three runs before Gilliam swung the game back in Arkansas’ favor. Ethan Lindow dealt seven strong innings for Arkansas allowing only two runs on four hits. Logan Warmoth hit a pair of doubles and scored two runs.
Moments That Mattered
* Midland produced back-to-back run scoring hits off Prelander Berroa in the top of the eighth to tie the game but Berroa rebounded to strike out consecutive hitters and end the inning.
* Spencer Packard walked, Robbie Tenerowicz singled and Robert Perez, Jr. was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out in the bottom of the eighth, bringing Gilliam to the plate.
