Salem-Keizer starter RHP Kervin Castro was equally if not even more impressive on Thursday going six strong innings of two hit baseball, walking two and striking out four to grab the win as Vancouver could only muster up a lone run in the top of the 9th on a base hit from 3B Trevor Schwecke that scored DH
Of the four Canadians hits, three of them belonged to 3B Trevor Schwecke who bumped his average to .265 (18-for-68) on the season. The loss went to Townsend (1-2) while Castro improved to 2-1 in front of 5,443 fans out at Volcanoes Stadium.
Notes: Vancouver is now 5-16 (.238) on the season and drops six full games back of Spokane who won on Thursday as there are 17 games remaining in the first half of the season... The run scored by De Los Santos snapped a 20-inning scoreless drought dating back to the 8th inning of Tuesday's game vs. Hillsboro... Vancouver is 0-4 (.000) in the month of July.
