GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers extend its win streak against the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 15-1, on Wednesday, May 24. The Grasshoppers improved to 22-19 while the Hot Rods fell to 18-21. Greensboro outhit Bowling Green 11-5 with three Hot Rod mishaps.
Starting on the mound for Greensboro was lefthanded pitcher Anthony Solometo who recorded six strikeouts and gave up three hits and one free base on six scoreless innings of work. Solometo tallied his first win of the season for the Grasshoppers.
JJ Goss took the loss for the Hot Rods and moved to 1-2 on the season.
Leading at the dish for the Grasshoppers was catcher Eli Wilson as he went 3-4 with a grand slam, a double, five RBI, and two runs scored. Following close behind was Will Matthiessen as he went 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Homeruns for the Grasshoppers were also recorded by Mike Jarvis and Hudson Head.
The Grasshoppers continue its home series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods tomorrow Thursday, May 25 at 6:30 pm. Come out to First National Bank Field for the Hoppers game and Thirsty Thursday.
