Reading Fightin Phils third baseman/first baseman Zach Green has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of June 18th-June 24th. The 24-year old hit .417 (10-for-24) with three doubles, one triple, five home runs, 13 RBIs, eight runs scored, four walks, and a 1.250 slugging percentage in seven games last week. Green, who is a native of Carmichael, California, had at least one hit in all seven games he played in last week and had multiple hits in three games. He ended the week by homering in four straight games from June 21st-June 24th and is now tied for the league lead with 15 homers on the season. The 6'3", 210 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in extra-base hits (9), total bases (30), home runs (5), slugging percentage (1.250), and OPS (1.767) last week. He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in RBIs (13-2nd), on-base percentage (.517-2nd), runs scored (8-tied 2nd), doubles (3-tied 2nd), triples (1-tied 2nd), hits (10-tied 4th), and batting average (.417-8th). Zach, who is hitting .279 with 18 doubles, 15 home runs, and 46 RBIs in 64 games for the Fightins this season, was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the third round of the 2012 draft out of Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California.

Ranger Suárez, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Reading Fightin Phils, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of June 18th-June 24th. The 6'1", 180 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Fightins last week and had a record of 2-0 with seven strikeouts and a 0.64 ERA. Suarez, who is a native of Carora, Venezuela, made his first start of the week on Tuesday at Portland and pitched a complete game in Reading's 7-1 victory in the opener of a doubleheader. He gave up one run on five hits while striking out five batters and walking two over seven innings of work. Suarez made his second appearance of the week on Sunday at New Hampshire and pitched seven shutout innings in Reading's 8-1 win. He scattered five hits while striking out two batters and walking one. The 22-year old led all Eastern League pitchers in innings pitched (14.0) and tied for the league lead in wins (2) and complete games (1) last week. He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in ERA (0.64-6th). Ranger, who also won the Pitcher of the Week Award earlier this season for the period of April 16th-April 22nd, was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an international free agent on April 1, 2012.
