The Grizzlies were the first to score when Tony Kemp (2-for-5) led off the bottom of the third with a triple and came home on a Jon Kemmer (2-for-5) RBI single. Derek Fisher made the score 3-0 when he crushed a two-run homer to center for his team-leading 19th long ball of the season. Kemp's triple extended his hit streak to a season-high 14 games.
Salt Lake scored six runs in the second when they sent 10 batters to the plate to take a 6-3 lead. Shane Robinson (2-for-5) knocked a bases loaded single which was followed by a bases loaded walk to Ramón Flores (2-for-4). Kaleb Cowart then hit a grand slam to right to clear the bases. It was Cowart's ninth home run of the season.
Grizzlies starter Dean Deetz (1-3) lasted just an inning and a third. He allowed the six Salt Lake runs on six hits and three walks while striking out one in the loss. Five Fresno relievers finished out the game. Bees starter John Lamb (2-0) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts through five innings for the win.
Fresno cut the Bees' lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the second when Kemp drove in Reid Brignac (2-for-3, single) with a RBI single. For Kemp it was his team-leading 34th multi-hit game (27 two-hit). The Bees got the run back in the fifth when Rey Navarro (3-for-5) scored on a passed ball to make the score 7-4.
The Salt Lake lead increased to 8-4 in the seventh when Navarro scored again on a Dustin Ackley (3-for-4) RBI double. Carlos Pèrez (2-for-5) secured the win for the Bees with his third home run of the season, a solo shot to left in the ninth. The score became 10-4 in the final frame when another Ackley RBI double scored Navarro.
The final score was set in the bottom of the ninth when the Grizzlies cut the Bees' lead to 10-5. Brignac tripled to get on and scored on an Alejandro Garcia double. Garcia extended his personal season-high hit streak to six games with the double.
The Grizzlies open a three-game series with the Reno Aces on Friday night at Chukchansi Park. Probable starters are Reno RHP Matt Koch (1-0, 6.88) against Fresno RHP David Martinez (5-7, 4.43). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
