New Hampshire Fisher Cats third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 5th-April 15th. The 19-year old hit .361 (13-for-36) with four doubles, two home runs, 12 RBIs, seven runs scored, five walks, and a .639 slugging percentage in nine games for the Fisher Cats. Guerrero Jr., who is a native of Montreal, Canada, has reached base in all nine games he has played in this season for the Fisher Cats and has multiple hits in four of those games, including going 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, two runs scored, and a career-high six RBIs in an 11-1 win at Trenton on April 9th. The 6'1", 200 lb. slugger currently leads the league in RBIs (12) and is tied for the league lead in doubles (4). He is also ranked among the league leaders in extra-base hits (6-tied 2nd), total bases (23-tied 2nd), hits (13-tied 3rd), OPS (1.057-4th), slugging percentage (.639-5th), runs scored (7-tied 5th), home runs (2-tied 6th), and batting average (.361-9th). Vladimir, who is rated by MLB.com as the top prospect in the Toronto organization and the third best prospect in all of Minor League Baseball, was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as an International Free Agent on July 2, 2015.

Shane Bieber, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Akron RubberDucks, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 5th-April 15th. The 6'3", 195 lb. hurler has started two games for the RubberDucks this season and has a record of 1-0 with 17 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Bieber, who is a native of Orange, California, was the Opening Day starter for the RubberDucks and pitched six shutout innings in Akron's 6-5 loss at Altoona. He struck out nine batters and did not issue a walk while giving up just two hits. Shane made his second appearance of the week on April 10th at Binghamton and fired seven shutout inning to earn the win in Akron's 5-1 victory. Bieber had eight strikeouts and no walks while scattering four hits. The 22-year old currently leads all Eastern League pitchers in strikeouts (17) and innings pitched (13.0) and is tied for the lead in ERA (0.00). He is also currently ranked among the league leaders in WHIP (0.46-2nd), wins (1-tied 4th), and batting average against (.133-6th). Shane, who is rated by MLB.com as the eighth best prospect in the Cleveland organization, was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the fourth round of the 2016 draft after going 11-3 with a 2.96 ERA during his junior season at UC Santa Barbara.
