PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of July 3rd through July 9th.
Akron RubberDucks catcher/designated hitter Eric Haase has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of July 3rd-July 9th. The 24-year old batted .400 (10-for-25) with two doubles, one triple, four home runs, seven RBIs, seven runs scored, one walk, and a 1.040 slugging percentage in six games last week. Haase, who is a native of Westland, Michigan, had at least one hit in all six games he played in last week and had multiple hits in three of those games, including a pair of two home run games during the week on July 4th at Harrisburg and July 7th against Altoona. The 5'10", 180 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in home runs (4), total bases (26), and slugging percentage (1.040) last week and tied for the league lead in extra-base hits (7). He also ranked among the weekly leaders in OPS (1.463-2nd), triples (1-tied 2nd), runs scored (7-tied 4th), RBIs (7-tied 6th), batting average (.400-tied 7th), and hits (10-tied 8th). Eric, who currently leads the league with a .628 slugging percentage and is hitting .275 with 17 homers and 37 RBIs in 57 games for the RubberDucks this season, was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the seventh round of the 2011 draft out of Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Michigan.

Brody Koerner, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Trenton Thunder, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 3rd-July 9th. The 6'2", 220 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Thunder last week and had a record of 2-0 with seven strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Koerner, who is a native of Winchester, Virginia, made his Double-A debut for the Thunder in his first start of the week on Tuesday against the visiting Reading Fightin Phils and fired eight shutout innings to earn the win in Trenton's 2-0 victory. He scattered nine hits while striking out one batter and walking one. Brody made his second start on Sunday against the visiting New Hampshire Fisher Cats and threw 5.1 shutout innings to earn his second win of the week in Trenton's 9-0 victory. He gave up four hits and struck out six batters without allowing a walk. The 23-year old tied for the league lead in wins (2) and ERA (0.00) last week and also ranked among the weekly leaders in innings pitched (13.1-4th). Brody, who had a record of 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA in six starts with Class-A Tampa before getting promoted to Trenton on July 3rd, was selected by the New York Yankees in the 17th round of the 2015 draft out of Clemson University.
