LYNCHBURG, Va. (July 18, 2017) - Winston-Salem starter Alec Hansen did not give up a hit until the sixth inning of the Dash's 3-0, seven-inning victory over Lynchburg in Tuesday's doubleheader opener at Calvin Falwell Field.
Hansen (1-2) faced the minimum in the first five innings, with his two walks erased on stolen base attempts. With two down in the sixth, Hansen plunked nine-hole hitting Anthony Miller, which marked Hansen's first hit by pitch at the High-A level.

Sam Haggerty followed with a single to right field to prevent Hansen from recording Winston-Salem's first no-hitter since James Dykstra accomplished the feat at Potomac in a doubleheader opener on April 15, 2015. Still, Hansen recorded his longest start with the Dash and pushed his season-long strikeout total to 119, which leads all White Sox farmhands and is in the top 10 in Minor League Baseball, with eight punchouts.
Behind Hansen, Winston-Salem (13-11, 37-57) turned to right-hander Mike Morrison, who escaped the sixth with a strikeout of Willi Castro to preserve the Dash's 1-0 lead.
The Dash started the scoring with an unearned tally in the top of the first. Jameson Fisher reached on a two-out, two-base error by Miller, and he came around on Eloy Jiménez's single to right-center. Since joining the Dash on Thursday, Jimenez is 6-for-14 with six RBIs.
In the seventh inning, Winston-Salem added some insurance by loading the bases with two down against Lynchburg (14-11, 54-40) starter Shao-Ching Chiang (7-7). Yeyson Yrizarri followed with a two-run single that looped over Haggerty in shallow center.
The insurance was not necessary for Morrison, who fanned two more in a perfect seventh to collect his first High-A save after amassing 10 in the first half with Kannapolis. He and Hansen combined to spin Winston-Salem's first one-hitter since August 4, 2016, against Frederick.
The Dash will play for a doubleheader and series sweep in Tuesday's finale. Winston-Salem will send southpaw Bernardo Flores (0-2, 6.60 ERA) to the hill against right-hander Shane Bieber (5-1, 3.32 ERA). First pitch is set for approximately 7:30 p.m., and coverage is available on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.
