BUIES CREEK, N.C. (July 25, 2017) - Alec Hansen tossed his first quality start for the Dash, but Winston-Salem could only muster three hits in a 3-1 loss to the Buies Creek Astros on Tuesday evening at Jim Perry Stadium.
Hansen (1-3) tossed six sterling innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits. The Oklahoma product fanned seven, giving him 126 strikeouts over 102.1 frames between Low-A Kannapolis and Winston-Salem (14-17, 38-63).

Myles Straw was responsible for all three Buies Creek (23-9, 60-42) runs on the evening. The Astros center fielder opened up the game with a triple to left-center. He quickly scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly by Yordan Alvarez to give Buies Creek a 1-0 lead.
Straw manufactured the Astros' second run without the use of a hit, earning a walk before advancing around the bases via a passed ball, stolen base and Zack Collins throwing error. Straw brought in Buies Creek's third run of the evening in the fifth, netting an RBI single that sent Spencer Johnson home for a 3-1 Astros lead.
Eloy Jiménez ignited Winston-Salem's offense in the top of the second, scalding a leadoff double against Buies Creek right-hander Jorge Alcala (4-3). After a pair of quick outs, Seby Zavala came through with a two-out RBI single that dribbled up the middle to plate Jimenez for the Dash's only run of the night.
Alcala turned in 6.1 innings, the most he's worked since jumping to the High-A level, while allowing just one run on two hits with five strikeouts. Carlos Sierra earned his first save with Buies Creek after hurling 2.2 scoreless frames and holding Winston-Salem sluggers to just one hit.
The Dash wrap up their three-game set with the Astros on Wednesday at 7 p.m. from Jim Perry Stadium. Right-hander Dane Dunning (3-5, 3.88 ERA) gets the call for Winston-Salem against MLB reliever Will Harris, who is on a rehab assignment with Buies Creek. Play-by-play coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. and is available on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.
The Dash return to BB&T Ballpark on Monday to kick off a seven-game home swing against the Salem Red Sox and Potomac Nationals.
