Manchester, New Hampshire – The Toronto Blue Jays announced Saturday that right-handed pitcher Hayden Juenger has been promoted from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
In 20 appearances, 17 starts, Juenger posted a 4.02 ERA and struck out 67 batters while issuing just 21 walks. Opposing hitters had a .196 batting average against him. He allowed two runs or less in 13 of his starts, including two three-inning hitless starts on April 10 and May 5.
The St. Louis native was selected by the Blue Jays in the sixth round of last year’s MLB Draft out of Missouri State University. Juenger made 11 relief appearances with High-A Vancouver in his first professional season, going 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA.
Juenger is currently ranked the No. 26 prospect in the Blue Jays organization, according to MLB Pipeline. This is the first time he has been promoted to Triple-A in his career.
In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Alejandro Melean has joined the Fisher Cats from Vancouver. Melean went 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA in nine appearances, five starts, with the Canadians this year. He recorded 35 strikeouts and walked just eight batters in 32 innings pitched.
The Fisher Cats continue a three-game homestand against the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox affiliate) Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all remaining home games at Delta Dental Stadium are available at NHFisherCats.com, via email at [email protected], by phone at (603) 641-2005, or in-person at the Fisher Cats box office on 1 Line Drive in Manchester.
