The Tulsa Drillers will have a new manager in 2025. It was announced today that Scott Hennessey will take over the newly named Oklahoma City Comets, the Triple-A affiliate of the National League Champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hennessey will leave the Drillers as one of the most successful managers in Tulsa professional baseball history. He is the second winningest manager in Tulsa history, which dates to 1905.

"It has been an incredible seven years, and I have enjoyed my time with the Drillers so much," said Hennessey. "It has been a pleasure to work with the Hubbard's, Mike Melega, Brian Carroll and everyone within the Drillers organization."

"The Tulsa fans have been amazing, and I can't say thank you enough for the way that have treated me over the years. As a team, we tried to bring everything we had every single game because that is what they deserved, and I hope the fans have enjoyed the seven seasons as much as I have."

Drillers President Mike Melega said, "Henny has been everything that you could ask for in a manager. He's been a true partner and a professional. Personally, I am proud to call him a friend. We will miss him in DrillVille, but at the same time, we could not be more excited for the opportunity ahead of him. He has earned it."

Hennessey’s 455 victories with the Drillers are just 41 short of the record 496 wins Bobby Jones accumulated with the club. Marty Berghammer, who led the Tulsa Oilers in the 1920s, is third with 373 and Hall of Famer Warren Spahn in fourth with 372.

Hennessey took over a .500 Drillers squad 100 games into the 2017 season and reenergized the team to a 27-13 finish in the regular season and to the first of three straight appearances in the Texas League Championship Series. Tulsa suffered heartbreaking five-game losses to Midland and Amarillo in 2017 and 2019 in the TLCS. In 2018, Hennessey and the Drillers claimed the franchise's first league title in 20 years with a four-game victory over San Antonio in the finals.

Hennessey was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and underwent chemotherapy treatments during the season. He is now cancer free.

He and his wife Deanne have made Tulsa their home the past several years.

“We are excited for Scott and his new opportunity in Triple A, but we will certainly miss him in Tulsa,” said Brian Carroll, Vice President of Media Relations and Baseball Operations for the Drillers. “Whether it was a big win or a difficult loss or a battle against cancer, Henny has been nothing but class during his years representing our team. We will miss him as our manager, but more importantly, we will miss him as a friend.”

The Drillers and Dodgers will announce Tulsa’s new manager later this winter
