Hiura's Career Night Leads Flying Chanclas to Rout of Rainiers

SAN ANTONIO - The Flying Chanclas de San Antonio belted a season-high five home runs and plated a season-high 15 runs Thursday night as they pummeled the Tacoma Rainiers 15-1 at Wolff Stadium.
Keston Hiura continued to rock Pacific Coast League pitching as he swatted a pair of home runs including a grand slam as he drove in a career-high five runs. It was the third multi-homer game of the season for Hiura and the fourth of his career.
Along with Hiura's pair of long balls, Tyler Saladino, Mauricio Dubón, and Lucas Erceg also went deep for the Flying Chanclas.
Meanwhile on the mound for San Antonio, Burch Smith mowed through the Tacoma lineup. He fanned a season-high 10 batters, which matched Aaron Wilkerson for the most by a San Antonio pitcher in a game this season. Smith's lone blemish in his five innings of work came on a Chris Mariscal solo home run to lead off the third inning. Jon Olczak tossed a pair of scoreless innings while Alex Wilson and Jake Petricka each worked an inning without allowing a run.
Hiura's first inning home run got the onslaught started and then the Flying Chanclas went off in the second inning. They matched a season-high as they plated seven runs in the frame highlighted by Hiura's grand slam off the batter's eye. It was the first grand slam of the season for San Antonio and first of Hiura's career.
Troy Stokes Jr. wore out the base paths at Wolff Stadium as he scored four runs to match a career-high. He also got in on the action with the bat as the ripped an RBI-double down the left field line in the third inning.
The Missions and Rainiers conclude their three-game series Friday night at Wolff Stadium. Right-hander Thomas Jankins (4-2, 3.88) will start for the Missions against right-hander Tyler Cloyd (1-5, 5.06) for the Rainiers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

-With the win, San Antonio improved to 41-26 on the season.
-The 14-run victory was the most lopsided game of the season for San Antonio.
-Thursday was the first time San Antonio hit at least five home runs in a game since they did so on July 5, 2011 at Tulsa.
-Troy Stokes Jr. matched a career-high by scoring four runs. He also did so on August 23, 2014 with the AZL Brewers against the AZL Cubs. He is the second San Antonio player to score four runs in a game this season. Mauricio Dubon scored four times on April 6 at Oklahoma City
-Cory Spangenberg's 16-game on-base streak was snapped.
-The 15 strikeouts for San Antonio matched a season-high.
-Burch Smith tossed his fourth career 10+ strikeout game and first since September 15, 2013 while with San Diego at Atlanta
