Midland jumped in front by scoring its first four hitters. Cooper Bowman belted a lead-off home run and Lazaro Armenteros finished the rally with a three-run homer. Hooks lefty Julio Robaina answered by retiring 12 of the last 15 men he faced to complete the four-inning start.
Consecutive two-out doubles by Joey Loperfido and Zach Daniels put CC on the board in the home first.
Jordan Brewer brought his club within 4-3 after sending a two-out, two-run clout to left field.
Midland manufactured runs in the sixth and seventh to up its advantage at 6-3.
Corpus Christi swiped a couple markers in the seventh. Luis Aviles Jr. tripled and Stubbs walked, setting up a double steal of second and home that made the score 6-4. Thanks to a throwing error on the play, Stubbs was able to score from third on a groundout by Drew Gilbert.
Brewer and Chad Stevens teamed for back-to-back, two-out doubles that tied the game in the eighth.
Stubbs, playing for the first time in two weeks, provided the heroics in the ninth with his third home run in a span of 11 assignments.
Jacob DeLabio earned the victory by working a perfect ninth.
