CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx. -- The Corpus Christi Hooks (14-14, 47-50) edged the Springfield Cardinals (14-14, 44-54), 3-2, with a walk-off RBI single from C Colton Shaver in the bottom of the ninth on Friday.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED:
-After 2.1 no-hit frames to start by LHP Evan Kruczynski, 3B Osvaldo Duarte powered a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the third to swing the Hooks ahead, 1-0.

-The Cardinals responded right away with a pair of runs in the fourth on an RBI single by SS Rayder Ascanio and an RBI sac fly from CF Dylan Carlson, jumping Springfield into the 2-1 lead.

-Corpus Christi, though, tied it, 2-2, in the fifth with a solo home run from C Colton Shaver.

-Shaver dealt the final blow in the bottom of the ninth, driving an RBI single to left field that scored 3B Abraham Toro for the 3-2 walk-off win for the Hooks.

NOTABLES:
-LHP Evan Kruczynski logged his second-straight 7.0-inning start, allowing just two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven on Friday.

-SS Rayder Ascanio extended his hitting streak to nine games with his RBI single in the fourth and finished 1x3 with a walk and a run as well.

-RF Justin Toerner went 2x4 with two doubles and a run. He has three doubles in his last two games.

-2B Irving Lopez has hit in each of his last three games, going 2x4 with a double on Friday.
