Rhys Hoskins hit his 23rd home run of the year, but the IronPigs (62-39) fell 4-3 to the Gwinnett Braves (61-39) Monday night at Coca Cola Park.

Hoskins launched his 23rd homer of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the first runs on the board for the Pigs as they trailed 8-2.
Matt Williams then tried to kick start a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, as he singled to center. Brock Stassi then singled to put runners at the corners, as Williams advanced to third. Scott Kingery would bounce a grounder to Braves shortstop Jace Peterson, who bobbled the ball and threw an errant throw to second, allowing Williams to score as the Pigs trailed 8-3.
Gwinnet jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first two innings, scoring a pair in each frame. Ronald Acuña Jr. singled home Ozzie Albies with an RBI single to left-center to give the G-Braves a 1-0 advantage. Acuna came around to score on a RBI double from Dustin Peterson giving the Braves a 2-0 lead.
Acua struck again in the top of the sixth inning with a solo home run to lead off the frame, giving the Braves a 8-3 lead.
The G-Braves would add another run in the top of the ninth, as Dustin Peterson scored on a sacrifice fly by David Freitas, giving Gwinnett a 9-3 lead.
Zach Eflin struck out a career-high nine batter as he took the loss for the Pigs. The right-hander tossed five innings and surrendered seven runs on 10 hits.
For the G-Braves, Andrew Albers picked up his 10th victory of the season as he tossed five 1/3 innings, surrendering just two runs on the Hoskins home run and gave up four hits.
The series continues with game two of the four-game set Tuesday afternoon against the Gwinnet Braves. The Pigs will send right-hander Jake Thompson (4-11, 5.36) and the G-Braves had yet to announce their starter at print.
