Hot Rods Crush Captains, Win Fourth Straight

BOWLING GREEN, KY --- In the third game of a eight-game homestand, the Bowling Green Hot Rods scored a run in all but two innings and routed the Lake County Captains by a score of 11-3 on Wednesday night.
The Hot Rods led for the entire game, starting in the first inning on a three-run homer by outfielder Jesus Sanchez to take a 3-0 advantage.
For Sanchez, the homer was his second in as many games. He now leads the team with 14 homers and leads the entire league with 76 runs batted in, ten more than his next closest competition.
Aside from Sanchez, Bowling Green got a trio of RBI singles from catcher
In the seventh inning, the Hot Rods got their final run of the game on a RBI double from outfielder
Pinto and Haley each had three hits to lead the Hot Rods lineup.
Offensively, the Hot Rods scored double-digit runs for the eighteenth time this year.
On the pitching side, lefty Kenny Rosenberg (W, 6-6) got the win with a quality start, giving up three runs in six innings with seven strikeouts.
Rosenberg is now 4-0 on the mound over his last seven starts and leads the team with 117 strikeouts, a total that already ranks fifth all-time in single-season history for the Hot Rods.
With the win, the Hot Rods have now won four straight games and are a season-high nine game over .500 this year. Bowling Green also secured a season series victory against Lake County.
Their magic number to clinch a playoff berth is now at eleven.
Bowling Green will try to continue their winning ways on Thursday in the third game of a eight-game homestand with an attempt to secure a series sweep against the Lake County Captains at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The Hot Rods will RHP Chris Pike to the mound while the Captains will counter lefty Sean Brady.
First pitch is at 6:35 PM.
