Geneva, IL- Chris Betts had two hits for the Bowling Green Hot Rods in a 6-0 loss to the Kane County Cougars on Thursday night at Northwestern Medicine Field. The Hot Rods fall to 56-40 and 17-9 in the second half with the series finale set for Friday evening with a 6:30 PM CDT first pitch.

Kane County took a two-run lead in the first against Hot Rods starter Miller Hogan. Geraldo Perdomo led off with a walk and went to third when Alek Thomas singled to right. Joey Rose doubled to left, plating Perdomo to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead while Thomas took third on the play. He scored on a wild pitch to give Kane County a 2-0 edge.
Kane County extended their lead in the fifth as Hogan left the game, giving way to Chris Muller out of the bullpen. Zack Shannon led off with a single against Hogan and Tra Holmes singled against Muller to put two runners aboard. Perdomo singled to drive in Shannon to make it a 3-0 game, while Thomas reached on a fielder's choice that scored Holmes to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead. Kane County added two more runs in the seventh, going on to secure a series win with the 6-0 victory.
Hogan (1-3) went four innings, allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts in the loss. Muller allowed a run on three hits with four strikeouts over two innings in relief. Nick Sprengel threw the final two innings out of the bullpen while allowing two runs without a hit, one walk and three strikeouts.
