BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell in the homestand finale this afternoon by a score of 5-2 in 10 innings. A three-run top of the 10th inning propelled the Captains to the win, salvaging one game of the four-game series.
Lake County got on the board in the top of the second inning thanks to a home run from 1B Jose Vicente , and it was 1-0 Captains.
Bowling Green scored in the bottom of the third, when CF Jake Stone came home on a ground ball double play off the bat of SS Taylor Walls , tying the game 1-1.
The Hot Rods took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when RF Moises Gomez hit a double that scored LF Emilio Gustave , and it was 2-1 in favor of the hosts.
Lake County tied it right away in the top of the sixth, and eventually the game went to extra innings.
Vicente hit his second home run of the game in the top of the 10th inning and helped the Captains to a 5-2 lead, which turned into the final score.
LHP Resly Linares got the start for the Hot Rods and received a no-decision. He threw six innings, allowing eight hits and two runs (both earned), walking two and striking out three.
The Hot Rods will enjoy the final off day of the regular season tomorrow, and begin a quick three-game road trip to South Bend on Wednesday. Neither team has announced a starter for the game.
