Midland (24-33, 57-69) struck first by plating a run in the second. Seth Brown connected for a lead-off double and came home on a Richie Martin RBI triple chopped down the left-field line.
Hooks starter Akeem Bostick permitted just one more single until his exit after five innings of work. Bostick struck out five against two walks and three hits.
Corpus Christi seized the lead on four consecutive hits in the fifth. Abraham Toro and Chas McCormick started the string with singles. Josh Rojas and Lorenzo Quintana answered via back-to-back RBI doubles for a 2-1 Hooks lead.
Brandon Bailey yielded just two hits over four innings of relief. One of those knocks was a two-out solo home run by J.P. Sportman which tied the game in the eighth.
In the 10th, Ramirez lined a base hit into center field which scored Jonah Heim, who was placed at second base at the start of the inning. Justin Ferrell and Kit Scheetz teamed to strand a pair in the frame.
Midland closer Kyle Finnegan retired all three hitters he faced in the home half to pick up his 10th Texas League save.
The series continues Wednesday night with Brock Dykxhoorn on the hill for the Hooks. The Hounds are slated to pitch Brian Howard. Rehabbing Astros Brian McCann and Chris Devenski are both scheduled to play for Corpus Christi.
