For the second time in two weeks this season, a Tulsa Drillers hurler has won a Texas Collegiate League Pitcher of the Week Award. Today, lefthander Hunter Barco was named the North Division’s Pitcher of the Week following his dominant performance in an extra-innings game. He joins teammate Bryce Osmond in claiming the first two awards of the season.
Barco, who attends the University of Florida, turned in a near-perfect performance against the Amarillo Sod Squad on July 7. He pitched five no-hit, scoreless innings in a relief appearance. It was the longest outing this season for a Tulsa pitcher with the only blemishes on his line coming via a hit batter and a walk. Barco also recorded eight strikeouts.
In eight total innings this season, he has given up just 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 14 in 8 innings.
