ROUND ROCK, TexasRound Rock Express RHP Hunter Wood has been recalled by the Texas Rangers and is active for the team’s 6:10 p.m. game against the Houston Astros, the club announced on Saturday afternoon. Wood becomes the second E-Train hurler to be recalled to the Bigs in as many days.

Wood had appeared in two games with Round Rock, posting no record with a 3.38 ERA (1 ER/2.2 IP). He struck out three in 1.2 perfect innings of relief in a 6-5 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers on May 8, earning his first save of the season. The Rogers, Arkansas native allowed a run on a hit and a walk while striking out two in an inning of relief on May 11 against the Dodgers in his last action with Round Rock.

This marks Wood’s third professional club as he previously took the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians. In 66 career appearances, including 10 starts, across three Major League seasons, the righty is 2-2 with 3.32 ERA (32 ER/86.2 IP). He owns 81 career strikeouts to 30 walks.

To make room for Wood on the active roster, the Texas Rangers designated C Jack Kruger for assignment. The backstop was previously a member of the Rangers Taxi Squad and therefore did not appear in a game with the Express after being added to the club’s roster from the Los Angeles Angels organization on May 10.

In addition, Rangers OF Eli White has been added to the Express active roster after being optioned from Texas on May 14. The 26-year-old was a member of the Rangers Opening Day roster, hitting .127 (7-55) with a triple and four RBI in 22 games prior to the option. He has spent parts of the last two seasons with Texas, combining to post a .155 average (16-103) with two doubles, a triple and seven RBI in 41 career games at the Major League level.

The Round Rock Express continue a six-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters (Houston Astros affiliate) on Saturday night at Dell Diamond. Express RHP Sam Gaviglio (1-0, 0.00) is scheduled to get the start up against Skeeters LHP Ryan Hartman (0-1, 9.00). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
