DES MOINES--The Iowa Cubs overcame two deficits to beat the Missions 8-6 on Thursday afternoon at Principal Park.
San Antonio held leads of 4-1 and 6-4 before the I-Cubs tallied four runs in the eighth inning to take their first lead of the afternoon.
Bubba Derby turned in a solid start for San Antonio, permitting just an unearned run over five innings of work.
Nate Orf led off the game with a homer to left and later added a run-scoring double, while David Freitas notched a pair of hits and drove in a run after coming into the game in the sixth inning during a double switch.
San Antonio reliever Angel Perdomo was charged with three runs in 1 2/3 innings in his Triple-A debut. The big left-hander walked three and gave up a game-tying three run homer to Trent Giambrone in the sixth frame.
Jon Olczak (1-2) took the loss as Iowa rallied against him in the eighth inning uprising.
All seven runs scored against the Missions bullpen over two separate innings came after the first two hitters of the inning had been retired. San Antonio relievers had surrendered only five runs in 35 1/3 innings over the 12 previous contests.
In losing the final three games of the series, the Missions (15-12) matched their longest losing streak of the season.
The club returns home Friday night to open a four game set against the Round Rock Express.
NOTES: Reliever Taylor Williams was recalled by Milwaukee and worked two innings in the Brewers Thursday afternoon game against Colorado
