Rancho Cucamonga, CA – Despite out-hitting the Inland Empire 66ers, the Quakes suffered their fourth straight defeat, suffering a 5-2 setback to the 66ers on Friday night at LoanMart Field.

Inland Empire starter Walbert Urena was dominant, as he hurled seven scoreless innings and got the win, helping the 66ers to their seventh straight win overall.

Rancho mustered just six hits on the night, but Inland accounted for only four hits. Instead the 66ers took advantage of four critical walks over the first six innings, with all four scoring.

Rancho starter Jared Karros (2-4) allowed two runs on two hits, but with two walks over four innings, as Inland Empire scored both runs in the third to take a 2-0 lead.

In the sixth, Carlos Martinez walked the first two hitters he faced, then gave up a three-run bomb to Alberto Rios, his second of the year to make it 5-0.

Urena (3-4) faced the minimum through six innings, as the 66ers turned three double-plays behind him and eventually turned a fourth to end the game.

Wilman Diaz’s two-run homer (6) put Rancho on the board in the ninth, but with two men on base and the tying run at the plate, Luis Rodriguez banged into the game-ending double-play, sending Rancho to their ninth loss in the last ten games.

On Saturday, the Quakes (16-24, 55-51) will send Chris Campos (5-5) to the mound against right-hander Ryan Langford (2-2) at 6:30pm, in game five of the six-game set.
