KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 20, 2017) - Jimmy Lambert pitched into the eighth inning and recorded his team-leading sixth quality start of the season, but the Intimidators fell to the Hickory Crawdads 4-0 on Saturday night at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System. Kannapolis (21-19) threatened late stranding base runners in each of the final six innings but was shutout for the third time this season.
Lambert (4-2) took the loss allowing three earned runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out four. Kyle Kubat spun two scoreless innings in relief for Kannapolis with four strikeouts. Hickory starter Demarcus Evans (2-4) picked up the win, lasting 5 and 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts, while not allowing a run and surrendering four hits.
The game moved scoreless into the fifth inning when Ti'Quan Forbes opened the top of the frame with a single. He advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch and scored on a Carlos Garay single to give the Crawdads a 1-0 lead.
Hickory later added three more in the top of the seventh, as four straight hits with two outs, aided by an error, helped the Dads make it a 4-0 game.
