DES MOINES - Iowa (44-50) and Nashville (44-52) combined for 37 hits and 23 runs as the I-Cubs took a 16-7 win over the Sounds, Tuesday at Principal Park. Iowa tied a franchise record with 10 doubles, while its 23 hits were the I-Cubs' most since August 30, 2010

Five runs on six singles and two errors in the first put Iowa on top and the I-Cubs kept rolling from there. The home team scored another in the second and four more in the third for 10 runs within the first three frames. The Sounds answered with a run in the second, a pair in the third, and made the game interesting with a three-run fifth, making it 10-6 in favor of the I-Cubs.
Nashville crept closer with a homer from Yairo Muñoz in the seventh, the only home run of the ball game, but Iowa didn't slow. Chesny Young, Ali Solis, John Andreoli, Jemile Weeks and Mark Zagunis cranked doubles in the bottom of the frame to compile a four-run inning. The I-Cubs added a pair of runs in the eighth to solidify the decisive win.
Andreoli went 4-for-6, falling a home run shy of the cycle. His four hits and four runs both matched career highs. Weeks and Solis also notched four-hit games for Iowa as seven of nine batters compiled multi-hit games
Dylan Floro (3-1) earned the win after spinning 2.2 innings and allowing one run on four hits while fanning three. Dillon Maples made his Triple-A debut and was the most effective pitcher of the night, retiring the side in order, two on strikes.
Iowa and Nashville will continue their four-game set at 12:08 p.m. tomorrow at Principal Park. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
