IronPigs Downed by RailRiders on Wednesday Night

Moosic, PA (July 5, 2023) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-41, 4-4) suffered their worst defeat of the season, falling 14-0 to the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (39-42, 5-2) on Wednesday night at PNC Field.
The RailRiders got the offense started early, plating three in the first inning. Andres Chaparro ripped a two-out two-run double and Franchy Cordero then singled him home.
Scranton opened the third with four straight singles, the final two from Chaparro and Cordero plating runs. Rodolfo Duran then brought in a run with a sacrifice fly before Wilmer Difo hit a solo homer to make it 7-0.
Everson Periera joined the party for the RailRiders with a two-run single in the sixth with Chaparro blowing it wide open with a three-run homer, giving him six RBI on the day, and making it 12-0.
With position player Dustin Peterson pitching in the eighth, the RailRiders scored two more in the eighth on a run-scoring double play and then an RBI single for Brandon Lockridge to make it 14-0.
Will Warren (4-3) fired 5.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win for the RailRiders. He allowed just two hits, walking one and striking out six.
T.J. Zeuch (3-4) suffered the defeat for the IronPigs, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits and a walk, striking out three.
The IronPigs continue their series against the RailRiders on Thursday, July 6. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
