IronPigs Survive Late Push from Bulls in Series Opening Win 

Durham, North Carolina (April 11, 2023) – All facets of the game clicked for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (5-4) on Tuesday afternoon as they claimed a 6-4 win over the Durham Bulls (3-6) at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Returning to play against his former club, Jordan Qsar started the scoring in the second inning with a sacrifice fly, scoring Scott Kingery.

Qsar doubled to open the fifth inning and came around to score later in the frame on a Dalton Guthrie two-bagger, making it 2-0.

This kicked off a string off five consecutive run scoring innings, as the IronPigs brought one run home in each frame the rest of the way. Simon Muzziotti rattled an RBI double in the sixth, Weston Wilson roped an RBI single in the seventh, Qsar knocked a solo homer in the eighth, his second of the year, before Wilson roped a solo homer of his own, also his second of the year.

Durham got on the board in the seventh courtesy of a Kyle Manzardo solo homer, his second of the season.

A single off the bat from Niko Hulsizer was compounded by an error to bring home a run in the eighth before Jonathan Aranda belted a two-run homer, his second of the season, to make it 6-4.

Durham got the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Trey Cobb (S,1) struck out Hulsizer to earn the save.

Cristopher Sanchez fired four no-hit innings in his rehab outing for the IronPigs, striking out six while walking just one. Noah Skirrow (1-0) then came out of the bullpen to earn the win, allowing three runs on four hits in 3.2 innings, striking out three.

Elvin Rodriguez (1-1) took the loss for Durham, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks, striking out three over five innings.

The IronPigs and Bulls continue their series on Wednesday, April 11 at 6:35 p.m. from Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
